Burning Instructions

Safety

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep the candle out of the reach of children and pets.
  • Place your candle on a stable heat resistant surface.
  • Avoid having your candle placed in or near a draft.
  • The container may become hot – do not handle the candle whilst burning.
  • At the end of combustion a variable amount of melted wax may remain.
  • Always store the candle in a cool/dry place below 25C and away from direct sunlight

Burning Times

Our burning times are approximate burning times only. Though we have tested all candles and found the burn times to be accurate there are substantial number of influencing factors that may affect the times as stated. These factors include temperature, the location of the candle (drafts) and the length of time you burn your candle on each use.

Container Candles

  • Smoking is caused by a wick that needs to be trimmed. Prior to relighting always trim the wicks to about 5mm. This will remove any black carbon that may have accumulated during your last burn. Try pinching off the tops of the wicks with a tissue. If smoking persists, extinguish the flame, re-trim the wick, remove the trimmings and relight.
  • Burn for more than 2-3 hours at a time to ensure a full melt pool and consistent fragrance dispersion.
  • To keep your candle looking fresh, once flame has been extinguished, clean any carbon marks off the inside of the glass container using paper towel.
  • Containers should always be placed on a sturdy heat resistant surface.
  • Extinguish candles by carefully dipping the wick into the liquid wax using an instrument with a will not catch fire.
  • Once the flame is out re-center the wick to avoid uneven burning.
  • To prevent heat damage to the container and the surface it is sitting on, discontinue use when 5mm of wax remains in the bottom of the container.
  • NEVER REPLACE THE LID WHILST THE CANDLE IS STILL BURNING.

Melts

  • Ensure the oil burner dish is dry and clean and place your fragranced oil burner melt inside.
  • Do not add any oils or water to your dish. Light a tea light candle and place it underneath the basin.
  • Watch as your oil burner melts to an oil and releases its delicious fragrance.
  • When the tea light is extinguished the melt will harden.
  • Continue lighting your tea lights until you notice the fragrance disappear.
  • When you notice the fragrance has reduced, wipe your dish out with a paper towel and pop in a new one. If you have allowed it to solidify, I find the easiest way to remove it is to light a new tea light for a couple of minutes which will melt the outside and allow it to pop out easily.
  • Always check your oil burner for any cracks before use.
